Welcome to Siobhán McGee's web site
Siobhán McGee has worked in the nonprofit sector since 1991,
variously as Head of Marketing/Fundraising with Concern, the Irish
Red Cross, Co-operation Ireland, and as Assistant and Acting Country
Director for Concern in south Sudan. From 2005 - 2009 she worked
with the Centre for Nonprofit Management at Trinity College Dublin
as Director, New Project Development. She also works as an independent
consultant.
She has led and contributed to the development of a number of
Codes of Practice setting standards for fundraising practice, most
especially in relation to the Charities Act 2009 when she led the
development of the ‘Statement of Guiding Principles for Fundraising’
and developed a set of resources to assist practitioners implement
those standards. This work was carried out for Irish Charities Tax
Research (ICTR).
She has led fundraising research and education initiatives to help
build knowledge and capacity of fundraising in Ireland. With The
Fund Raising School at Indiana University their acclaimed ‘Principles
and Techniques of Fundraising’ training course was delivered
in Dublin in 2008 and 2009.
She has been responsible for developing and implementing innovative
and highly successful fundraising strategies, corporate partnerships,
and for managing development and change strategies in a range of
organisations and contexts. A notable success was leading a campaign
that raised €34 million for the Irish Red Cross Tsunami Appeal
in early 2005.
Siobhán has a strong interest in fundraising practice,
accountability and ethical issues for charities, in particular for
NGOs working in the international development arena. She is a Marketing
Graduate and has an MBA from the Open University Business School.
She speaks regularly at conferences and seminars.
